there is a new marker on the market from a brand called Molotow, and they come in 1mm, 2mm, and 4mm wide tips, Amazon has a set of all 3 markers for around $23, individual prices vary.

Over on the car model boards, the Molotow chrome markers have been all the thing for the last few months. They're even selling a refill bottle now that can be used in an airbrush. Think the current issue of Scale Auto magazine has an article on it (might be the previous issue). I've got one of the 2mm ones, but haven't used it yet.
Here's a thread on one of the model car boards about the subject: Chrome paint? - General - Model Cars Magazine Forum Last edited by whulsey; 03-18-2018 at 12:57 PM. Reason: more info |

Tamiya Paint Markers are good metallics.
The silver Sharpie only works on certain types of surfaces and colours. It also doesn't seem to last very long...at least the silver metallic element seems to vanish fairly quickly. I have a few old silver sharpies that write a transparent pinkish colour.

Chrome Paint
Anybody use this Spaz Stix aerosol?
https://www.hobbyrecreationproducts....chrome-aerosol Link that Whulsey provided has a post about this paint as well. If you're curious, the link provided has some examples of what the chrome looks like on plastic... Can also get airbrush refills of the of both Spaz Stix and the Molotow. Very interesting stuff! Decided to buy the Spaz Stix Ultimate Chrome, black backer and the clear coating. Decided to try these vs, the Molotow due to drying time. Total came to $30.13 which includes shipping to Alaska (very cheap shipping $4.66 USPS 1st class). Shipping and paint was cheaper than Amazon at this site: https://www.hobbyrecreationproducts....-mirror-chrome Mike

I've been using the Molotow chrome markers for awhile now and they work very well on plastic, but I don't know how they will work on absorbent material like paper. They're available at Hobby Lobby stores If you have one of those near you.
Wayne Btw they're kind of expensive ($14 for one pen) but they are the closest to bright chrome that I've found so far. |
