I use the glue pictured below for everything except stiffening paper. It sets in 40 to 60 seconds and cures in 24 hours. I use 1mm cardboard for building bases and have never had a failure. You only need a very thin layer of the glue. I lay down a dot trail and then spread it with a dental tool. You could probably just use the dots (although I have not tried this) and clamp the two pieces together

Great info guys!
I see, reading around the forum, that the glue topic is quite controversial so I believe I'll just try few different glue types and I'll choose the one that suits better my needs.
I'm in the process of purchasing some tools to get started with. I'll keep you posted!
