My humble contribution to the Memorial Day.

This modest War memorial is erected close to the main gate of the former 102 Air Force Base, also known as “George Guynemer AFB”, near to Dijon in Burgundy.

It reads, top of the stele :

“Flying from this airfield, these American Airmen of the 42nd Bomber Wing were killed in action during the fights for the liberation of the French soil.”

Bottom of the stele :

“In testimony of the brotherhood-in-arms of their French comrades in arms. 1945 .”
