New Fatal Error Message

Well, new for me. For the last few days I've been trying to start a new thread in Gallery Announcements. The text is supported by nine thumbnails - it concerns a large and sprawling model - which seem to upload OK. But when I come to preview or send the post I get a totally white screen with this message on top:

Fatal error: Class 'Normalizer' not found in /home/papermod/public_html/forum/dbtech/dbseo/includes/3rdparty/portable-utf8/Patchwork/PHP/Shim/Iconv.php on line 681

Has anyone else had this lately? Funny thing is I was able to post another new thread in between failed attempts at this one. I dunno...

Wot? Has nobody any idea what this problem is or how to get round it? I'm posting this on the wrong part of the forum, perhaps?
I'll have another try tonight and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply, Rick. I can wait until you're ready. Had another try tonight, with the same result. Altered title slightly; no joy. Tried linking to my photos on Flickr, but no joy there either. I guess the world will have to wait a bit longer before they can stare in wonder at my latest offering

Philip - this relates to a PHP error - a general-purpose scripting language.

It has nothing to do with the website, but will probably relate to a plugin.

In the error text line is there any wording that would point to a plugin you have installed on your machine?

If so either remove it or reinstall it (downloading afresh and reinstalling may give a later version where the big has been fixed).

Thanks for your reply, Kevin.
I'm not what you would call computer literate, but I get the gist of what you say. I know about browser plugins, but are there any other kinds? Firefox, my default browser, tells me I have two plugins, a video codec by Cisco and a Widevine content decryption module by Google. Whether either is the culprit I couldn't say. And in any case I don't feel confident enough to go rummaging around in that area. Ho hum, what to do now?

Philip, the plugin that Kevin talked about is not a browser, or client side, plugin, but a forum, or server side, plugin. Only who has administration access to the program files implementing the forum can change the configuration, adding or deleting any plugins.

The double message you posted probably depends on a timed out session, but for some reason the same POST request has been submitted by your browser.

Unfortunately, my reply can't fix anything, it just explains a little bit from where that error message come from.
