I fine with whatever works best for you, Chris. As previous mentioned, I hope that I'll still be able to download the ones that I've already purchased.

I'm willing to put my hand up to volunteer to do whatever helps you out Chris.

Thanks,
Gary

In my case, I'm just waiting for people to send in pictures of built models so I can send them in.

Go with your gut, Chris. Ecard has a loyal customer base who will stick with you.

Go with #2 Chris. In the long run the great majority, including you, will be happier.

Hi Chris. Although running the site automatically makes you a businessman, I greately appreciate what you have always done for the community and regularly pointed my friends in your direction.

I would suggest a revamp, as web technology has moved on from when the site was created, and could offer a much improved user experience by being much more interactive than the site is right now.

A comment/image review function would be nice, we all know people are less likely to get models that doesn't have completed photos of. If users could also contribute those images I think it'll be good for everyone.

As most subjects fall under standard categories, a dedicated tag/search filter could also benefit greatly. Designers (even customers) could tag their kits with for example, "cold war", "modern", "clear canopy", "full hull", "weathered", to name a few.

Too bad there are not some paper modelers / web designers here that could step up and give you at least a few tips and pointers. I know there are a huge bunch of "shopping carts" out there.

I used to do that stuff but my skills are (at least) 10 years out of date. I mean I actually wrote HTML code in an editor!!

I know I will catch a lot of flak for this but it is a shame so many on this group are leery of Facebook. FB has a lot of opportunities for small / medium businesses.

Thanks everyone! I can host and design myself. Its just all the updating and stuff that scares the bejeepers out of me. W will probably go with option 2. Now previous orders will be difficult if not impossible. It depends if I can import my DB into the new version.... fingers crossed - whenever I get that far...

Although I hate to miss out on any sales...
I also think Chris should take his time.
Don't panic.
If he can get the existing site back up and running, great.
but if not...I look forward to the new ecardmodels!

I've been with ecard from the very start,
and my loyalty and commitment to Chris will never change.
He supported me...and I support whatever happens on his end.

Having said all that, I am in the process of revamping my own store
and you can still order my kits directly from me.
Paper Model Shop Home

I had planned a special "trip" fundraising release this month,
and I am going to still go ahead with that since it would have been direct sales anyway (not thru ecardmodels).
Watch the Promotions page at my store for news...but I'll also post it here.

I don't have any fancy check out at my store.
Its a simple fill out the order form, or send me an email, and request what you want.
You can pay in advance or wait for a paypal invoice.
Payment is through paypal...so you can use credit cards there.
I give out private download links for all purchases.

If theres anything you really have to have right away (from me) just ask.

Fingers crossed that Chris can resolve the ecardmodels issue asap!
