The glue to make plastic models is a glue that makes the plastic softer and kind of melts the pieces together when you join them. So it acts a little like a welding torch.
The glue that is used for paper models is more a bonding type of glue. It works more like cement. White PVA glue even goes into the fibres of the paper and dries really quick there. It doesn't melt the parts but binds it together by getting into the paper's inner structure. Same goes for transparent glue like Aleenes, Uhu or Technicoll or wheatever it is calle where everyone lives. It gets more or less absorbed into the parts you glue together and that is why the separate parts bond. ...that's my two eurocents. |

Glue for plastic models is solvent, just slightly thicker one. It's still "watery" enough to soak into paper faster than water into sponge.
That's sort of a reason I still use water based glues. They soak into paper when bonding but water makes paper maelable for about 10_15 seconds, just long enough for me to beat it into shape I need it to stay in. |

Hi Guys,
As for glue,,, I have always used Aileens Tackey glue for paper modeling. It sets up fast, and works great. You can get it at Walmart. I also use Monoject medical syringes for applying the glue. They allow you to get it into every space. And are easy to refill. Hope this helps. Best Regards, Gary |
