Rest in peace Ashrunner, and my sincere condolences to his family.
We were an Ocean apart and never met, but we conversed often here. I will miss him.

Lauren was the one of the first friends I made when I got online, we met in the days of IRC, Internet Relay Chat, and we flew against each other in Warbirds and Combat Flight Simulator, we also shared a common interest in earth sciences, there were many an evening where we would talk about what I was doing in my schooling or the early years of my career.
I would also get email or chat messages from him asking for me to identify a helicopter he shot earlier in the day, or he would pass on an after action report of a helicopter crash, or some article on USAF helicopter operations. Lauren also relit the paper model building flame in me, when in early 2000, while I was still in 29 Palms, told me that he was making paper models, and I was like, I used to do that as well. He was one of the first group of moderators Ron and I asked to help out in the early days of cardmodels.net, and eventually here on the forum. Lauren, it is time to rest, we will meet again.

Sorry to hear that. I really enjoyed his stories of life on the flight line and his wildlife photography.

Sad to hear about Ash, he had been a big part of this forum from the start, and I enjoyed his input here, he helped me figure out some insect identification butterflies and dragonflies mostly being from Oregon he was familiar with western bugs....have missed his presence here for awhile. Best regards for his family and loved ones.
