Yep, caught that in a news feed. Heart attack.
Some good and some not so good films and TV shows, but always entertaining whether on the big screen or small screen.

Loss of another character. Still love 'Deliverance'.

Yeah, he was a fun actor, blah, blah, blah. They're a dime a dozen.

Now, for a REAL loss.

Couldn't agree more with you my friend. One of this country's biggest problems is the news media. Where are Walter Cronkite and Huntley / Brinkley when we really need them.

If you don't like him, you don't have to write here. They're a dime a dozen?! Burt was a REAL actor and legend. How many REAL actors and REAL artists we still have?! When Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, Mick Jagger pass away you'll say the same disrespectful words?!
Please respect the others and don't make one death more important than another.

Kacper,

Once again our mutual language barrier has confused all of us. The point that cdevenport was trying to make is that our society today worships celebrities and completely neglects the people that really make our society what it is today.

The link he posted leads to a US Army sergeant who was killed in battle. Burt Reynolds led a long and pleasant life. This Army sergeant was cut down in his prime. Our news media and "social media" should do a better job of covering these events.

So now everyone needs to come together and sing a few bars of "Kumbaya".

I know what Charles meant. He just said it not like it should sound.

Quoting myself: Don't make one death more important than another.

If we talk about people and what they did, ask anyone around the world who had more influence on our lives? I think answers will be pretty obvious.

We should respect soldiers and veterans but let's be honest even if it hurts. We lose soldiers every day and we have to live with it. It's no longer Vietnam when there was a conscription in US and you were forced to fight and risk your life just because politicians decided about it. Back then those all single names were part of tragedy. Tragedy because they were forced. Now no one's forced to fight in foreign countries, at least in Poland and in the US. I know they fight for us in the Middle East, to keep our world safe from terrorism and we should appreciate it. But they also agreed for all risks and that was their choice.

This thread is about Burt Reynolds. To remember him. And now going back to the starting point, yes, personally I think he had more influence on our world than a single soldier. Burt is the person we'll remember forever. Many of of us will talk about him with sentiment and nostalgia. If you take a look on the culture today, you'll see that the old generation of real artists, not celebrities, is slowly slipping away...
And that's the point. We have to care about them, respect them and save them in our memories for the next generations.
