Question Paper Ships

It seems from unqualified commentary floating around that the site Alice Paper Ship models is a farce, selling pirated designs perhaps. Who knows? I do not. Apparently though, some of the listed plans or paper model kits are actually real and produced by someone else who is legitimately trying to sell them. How does one find these merchants and also figure out what is available in the market place for large scale paper model ships

Depending on your interest in ships, there are various publishers catering to the various interests.

Shipyard, from Poland, does ships from the Golden Age of Sail.
America based reseller https://www.agesofsail.com/ecommerce...er-models.html

JSC, from Poland, publishes various military and civilian vessels
JSC (International webstore)

GPM, from Poland, publishes both civilian and military ships.
GPM • modele kartonowe

HMV, from Germany, has a large range of military and civil kits
https://www.h-m-v.de/en/

Wilhelmshaven, from Germany, also has civil and military subjects, including the carriers Forrestal and Nimitz
Papermodels, Cardmodels, Wilhelmshavener Modellbaubogen, Bastelbogen, Kartonmodellbau, Kartonmodelle, Architektur, Schiffe, Flugzeuge

And undoubtedly there will be other sites mentioned, but these are some of the biggest ones, and have quite the selection.

Most vendors do not have digital copies of their kits(there are some exceptions), so as a rule of thumb, any digital kit of any of the publishers I, or others will/have mentioned will be illegal in nature.

the adage, if it seems to good to be true, it usually is, applies here.
the staff here on the forum have years of experience dealing with, and identifying kits which are pirated, if you have a question about a particular kit, just ask any staff member.

Hi Firth....

"It seems from unqualified commentary floating around...... "

Could you perhaps maybe explain why you think assumptions that the site has pirated material are "unqualified commentary"?

You also advise that "some of the listed plans or paper model kits are actually real and produced by someone else who is legitimately trying to sell them". If you know this, then surely you will also be aware they have pirated models?

"How does one find these merchants...".

An internet search using Google or any other decent search engine will help you find the original manufacturers site, using details of the model from the Alice Model site. Or ask here if your search fails.

And if sometimes the model is out of print, be patient, they do reprint. Or try ebay. Or Amazon.

Even simpler - just go go the main manufacturers sites (see the links provided above) and brouse directly to find what interests you...
