The above mentioned and pictured magnifier was in an email from Grizzly Tools I received earlier this afternoon.
It is similar to the single lens magnifiers recommended by MichaelS, myself, and others.
One of the key improvements over the single lens, is the ability to hold 2 lenses, with a maximum magnification of 6X.

I have seen similar units on Amazon, priced at $35 to $40, so for $15.99 this is quite a good deal.

I also like the headband and ratchet adjustment on top, and unlike the single lens units, this one fully pivots out of your field of view, and doesn't sit on your nose like the single lens.

I am not sure as to when I get a chance to purchase one, hopefully sooner than later.

I have an ancient one, maybe 10 years old still going strong. Can't model without it.

I'm thinking of trying one of these, I use one of those pivoting arm mounted ones that's clamped to my desk but it can be a bit restricting.

Funny, the website mentions worldwide shipping but this item is apparently not able to be shipped to Australia.

Jaffro - you should be able to easily find something similar in Aus.

Good hardware stores usually have as well. Not hobby or embroidery shops - they will have them maybe, but at a price! Tamiya make one - it's like 8 times the price of a hardware shop one!

[Lighter]

I have used a visor with a crank wheel and flip up lenses for nearly fifty years. Same one and fifty years ago cost about the same is the one Rick has posted.

It is never too soon to protect your eyes. Your modeling will get better for having closer vision.

However, I'm not satisfied with headlights because they give shadows that are too sharp and kill off prereferral vision. YMMV. I've tried duel beam clip-on LED headlights - better, but no longer in use.

So far I've found nothing better than a well-lighted workplace with very low contrast shadows and some color correction toward daylight. I'm not satisfied with my workplace lighting yet. It has evolved over the decades and is getting close. I thought an LED arch would do it, but, no. I need two diffused hanging fixtures pretty much in line with my shoulders and just high enough to clear my head. But, I'm stalling and still looking for a "perfect" solution.

I use a homemade angle lamp with an led daylight bulb. About the best solution I have found.

Don't have a dedicated work spot, so I can't go fancier. Just as well, as I would probably have wasted money to find no better a solution then I have at the moment
