What a bloody disgrace. The mainstream media here hasn't even mentioned Mr Davies' passing. Reading it here is the first I've been aware of it.

Saw the news. I grew up in the 70's and our English teacher was a major in the British Army in WW2. He caught me and my mates mimicking Windsor Davies' character in "It Aint Half Hot, Mum". We thought we were for 'The High-jump' but , he roared with laughter and let us off a almost certain detention.
The song with him and the talented, yet diminutive, Don Estelle is still a favourite of mine. Ant.

There was a story on the ABC News website which was up for a day or so. The MSM in Australia (aka Shitsville according to John Cadogan - you don't want to know what he calls the USA) is much the same as the rest of the world - if news doesn't fit the elitist, globalist or social justice filters you never see it. According to the MSM in Australia the last 3 weekends of demonstrations and riots in France never happened. It's amazing the Australian govt hasn't figured out a way to suppress YouTube to keep the population completely in the dark. It's depressing when you get more accurate news stories from Russia Television (RT) than the traditional media.

Regards,

Charlie

Well said Charlie. I guess Windsor Davies brand of humor was too 'old school' for modern PC standards so that puts him in the non-person category.

Maybe its Aussie's proximity to China that influences?
They like to control and filter everything don't they?

I get my news from the internet only...every morning I look through the hot news items on Bing
and then I bring up the Canoe news site...a bit more focus on Canada stuff.

I often end up on the Sun or Mirror UK, because I like the way they lay out their stories with the most pictures.
(I know, I know...not the most respected news companies...but then, I have to put up with CNN and Fox! Not any better.)

I found a ton of related news pages about Davies once I did a basic search.
But you are right, it wasn't front page news.
Although I can't see that it should be.

We often argue about how much celebs are given the limelight and we question the excessive new coverage of everything they do.
But then we complain when their deaths aren't mentioned?
I guess there is a lesson there.

For us that grew up with Carry On films and the like, he is of much more importance.
I'm glad I found out about this through here.
