Awesome pics from Poland

If you need something to idle a few minutes or hours away, look at these pics from a Polish paper model contest/exhibition on Flickr from Thomas Stranak (sorry I don't have the special characters to do his name justice). Mind blowing as to the excellent builds. Scroll to the right and click on a pic of interest to get a nice enlargement. No wonder such great kits come from Poland.

Enjoy

Neratovický papír 2018 is an exhibition in Neratovice in czech Republic (just north of Prague) and Thomas is very much Czech as well afaik. They do make excellent kits and for some reason a lot of Czech designers seem to specialise with architecture-that's a good thing because there is only so many Spitfires and Messerschmitts one can design before it gets silly.

Beautiful exhibition.Thank you for posting.

Thank you for the correction and my apologies to Thomas. I looked to edit my post but can't seem to find the edit button. I fully agree with you about the architectural models.

I have never heard a most correct statement. We are fed up of having "new" Spitfires, Me.109s, Mustangs etc. The same goes for plastic models. And several aircraft have NEVER or very lately being made either in plastic or card. Case in point: The Douglas DC-4/C-54 Skymaster. And no good highly detailed version in card. It took Revell more than 60 years to finally release a kit of this aircraft. But they continue to release, and re-release, and re-re-release the same Mustangs and Spitfires every year. Such a waste of time AND I am sure, good sales.

I certainly hope that it was an exhibition and not a competition because each and every one of those models photographed deserves a prize.
So many brilliant model builders.
I need to find out which planet those Czech modelers are from because they are out of this world.

Wyatt, thanks for posting this. By the way if you go into Windows Accessories there is a entry for character map. It shows a lot of the special characters.

i know the shows have an element of both, they are exibitions but also competitions.they are a great way of introducing new people to the art off paper modelling .europe certainly handles these well .i buy most of my models from polish or dutch or german designers but then im mainly into shipmodels and the best come from these two countries, the czecks love their buildings for sure
