Joseph Bloom RIP
I just found out that Joseph Bloom (bloomohio) died a year ago, May 8, 2018. Joe was a member of this forum and indefatiguable collector of paper models, including the British Hooton models. I found this obituary notice in ther Canton Ohio newspaper.
Joseph M. Bloom(1937 - 2018) Joseph M. Bloom 1937-2018 age 81, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning May 8, 2018. He was born on April 26, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late David and Sarah (Penish) Bloom. Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and PhD in Applied Math from Harvard University. He met Zandra Mousman in graduate school and they were married in 1963. Ohio has been their home since 1972. Joseph retired from Babcock and Wilcox Research Center in Alliance as Senior Scientist. He was a Fellow of ASME and contributor to Code Section XI Committee. He had numerous publications in professional journals related to fracture mechanics and the power generating industry. He was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue. Joseph and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and visiting with family. He is survived by his wife Zandy; daughter Deborah Bloom of Dallas, TX; son and daughter-in-law David and Michelle Wolf-Bloom of San Jose, CA; grandchildren Brendan, Joshua, Aaron and Shayna; and extended family and friends. One year already.
I noticed it some time ago when I saw the "Eternal Member" tag in his profile. Time does fly. He used to participate actively until his last days.

This is very sad news. He was an interesting man with a long experience of paper modeling. I enjoyed talking with him at the International Paper Modelers' Conventions in Sterling.
He will be missed. Don |

I believe the last time I saw him was at the convention in Sterling in 2017. I never did get around to buying one of the Hooton models from him.

ahhh Joe
...always butting into threads trying to sell his models! lol might have been annoying at the time, but now its just another thing thats sadly gone missing. Its a shame we don't have more time... especially to build all those models we've got piled up! Hopefully someone tucked a kit and some glue into his pocket for the journey.
