so that is longer than I thought. Got into Paper when a friend of mine was looking for a model of one of Howard Hughes racers, did a search and came across paper modeling, Chris from ecardmodels reached out to me at another site and invited me over, love it here, but old age and health has slowed me down quite a bit....

I had to go back and have another look at some of your civil war projects. That Brooke 7" swivel mounted gun on the Front Casement of the CSS Virginia is a great one. Last edited by Michael Mash; 05-23-2019 at 08:56 AM. |

Mike,
I had some time to run another query, I used the date of January 1, 2009 as my limit, and I did a search on activity prior to the above date, and got 1422, the majority of members having only registered(maybe bots, who knows), there are some members who only have a few posts, but no activity since January 1 Rick

I joined in March of 2010, and though I am not currently modeling because of arthritis, I still enjoy seeing and reading about all the exciting work being done by the members. So I still consider paper modeling one of my hobbies, even though I'm not active.

I joined 1/1/2008 after many years on the card model listserve run by King Butler (who I think lives in Halifax, Canada) Cardmodel-L, that started around the beginning of 1997, and ended somewhere around 2003. That was a place to share websites, tips and techniques. Steve Brown captured some of the best bits from the list serve in the CardModel FAQ, which serves as sort of archive of the old listserve, that ended in 2001 or so. Then there was also Saul Jacob's email list, [email protected], which was run by Bill Geoghegan in the later years and closed circa 2011.
Man - what a great leap forward this forum here was. It was a giant pleasure to be able to see and share photos, not to mention the designs themselves. What better medium could there be to support the hobby and the friendships it builds?

I believe David Okamura and Jim Nunn introduced me to this educative and fabulous resource way back then. I may not respond as often as I should to members posting their build techniques including their quality instructional photos. Please know I appreciate being allowed to enjoy every topic of discussion. This week whatever model build mood I may be experiencing there will be a terrific find somewhere in this Forum, Downloads, or Links. Thank you to all who make this possible. BP |

Rick: Looks like you narrowed it down quite a bit. Still, 1,422 is more than I would have guessed. But when you look at the current membership of over 80,000, then it sounds about right. Thank you 10+ year members for your excellent responses to this thread. Mike |

I joined in 2007, but didn't make my first post until 2017. However I did have ten years of lurking practice!

I joined this forum on 20th of July 2007, but started with the earlier version of this forum in 2004 I believe. When that went belly up or was sold, I was with the German forum Kartonbau.de until I rediscovered this site, and was glad for it.
