Paper replica has nice DH Beaver on floats,so does Bruno Van Hecke in S&P series,I think fiddlers green also has Beaver on floats that comes in B&W versions among others (PM musicman ).

Takeoffs and landings in flying boats or float equipped planes isn't much easier than it ever was. It's still dangerous and requires a lot of skill-that's why so very few major types have been designed and produced since 1970.

Sorry about their loss.

Rob -

I understand the situation, but for future reference, I recommend Jim Gausman's DHC Beavers on floats: http://www.dgapapermodels.com/Custom...ausman%203.jpg

I am sure they will be available again in the future via ECardmodels, and there are a number of Forum members who do first rate recolors.

The Beaver seems to have dug the right float into the water while landing, dipped the right wing, cartwheeled and flipped over. She and the pilot must have died almost instantly. NTSB is investigating.

It was this very plane (image from the Taquan Air website).

Is there a Beaver on floats somewhere in the repertoire here?
Sorry, to hear your friend was on that one. Was the second fatal crash for Taquan inside of a week. 1st crash was a midair.

I just flew the panhandle myself. Left Kenai after work on Friday, got stuck in Petersburg on Saturday, flew from Petersburg to Hermiston, OR today non stop for 1009 miles taking 7.0 hours to do it. Real bad weather everywhere except for the BC, Canada coast.

From Washington state to Hermiston was low clouds bumpy with massive convection going on. Had to land at Hermiston with 20kt direct 90 deg x-wind-it was not a landing, more of arrival.

Sorry, to hear of your loss.

Mike

Making pretty good head way on the recolor..........but I need some help.....

There is a decal on the fuselage just below the trailing edge of the wing, that I can't (yet) find a good enough shot of to figure it out............

anyone got any ideas what it is..........

Thanks Ryan.......... yeah Alanis would have gotten this one.

I tell you, looking at all the pictures of their aircraft, I have been amazed at how well the exteriors have been kept up........ if they do PM as well on the innereds as they do the exterior, they must just have a bad case of luck..........

Between the mid-air and now this one........but, we all know floats and a rouge wave, or sub-surface log is all it takes, especially on the initial landing........

Again, I appreciate you finding these..........your google-fu is strong!
