Covid-19

So, here around my parts, they have effectively cancelled life for a few weeks.

Good thing I have my "paper modeler hunker down stash!"

HDD full of kits, lots of printed kits, ink, ream of cardstock, a hundred
new blades, and a gallon of glue!

And they said I was crazy!

Yes, I know. Not a laughing matter.

But sometimes you have to!

Up here in the hills there wasn't much to cancel. So guess I don't go down to the valley for a month or so and work on some of the paper and plastic overflowing out of the closet.
Do need to do a bit of stock up on kitty food. Hope everybody pays attention and the curve tops out in a few weeks.

The situation itself is no laughing matter.

However, in addition to the physical health of ourselves and those around us, we must also tend to our collective mental health.

One of the most effective ways is through humor (at least for myself, YMMV).

Me? I'm trying to find alternatives to singing "Happy Birthday" or "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" while washing my hands.

Stay sane, and be safe out there!

At risk of mentioning some other post (totally by coincidence...)

For those staying inside -- by precautionary choice or otherwise -- there's the Folding@home project with the opportunity to devote your computer's processing cycles to fight the Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

and on the bright side plenty of access to paper if the stores are out of toilet paper,on the serious side from modellers point polish producers are unable to send models overseas for the short term due to restrictions by polish post. they will accept orders but cannot despatch them while this situation remains in force

Guys

check out the Download section here. Lots of models to choose from and build.

and last I checked, Amazon will still deliver card stock and ink cartridges. Just ordered some as I am extending my stay with my son while this virus condition still grips the world.

In my little corner of the world I have watched other wise intelligent and rational people make a run on toilet paper, pasta, and spam. The extreme reactionary elements have cleared the shelves of ammunition and related supplies. Staying at home and building paper models is in my opinion the best way to maintain my sanity. Hopefully some sense of normalcy will return before very long.

I wish I had gotten my daughter-in-law interested in paper modeling. She is under quarantine until the 25th, having to have cheek swabs every three days

"plenty of access to paper if the stores are out of toilet paper". Good point Herky. When it comes to a toilet paper substitute, I think matte would be the way to go. Can't imagine Premium Glossy Photo paper would be much use ;o) (Bit like the old 'Izal' stuff we had in school).

We're quite lucky that, if anyone does need to stay indoors, paper modelling is an ideal pastime, unlike many other hobbies. One danger of course is becoming socially isolated, but that's where a forum like this comes into its own. Expect to see lots of interesting builds over the next few months.

Stay safe everyone.
