Hack??

Was checking my email and went through my junk folder before I dumped it. Saw a message from : papermodelerforum . com with a notice about a security update. Making the guess this is a phishing post.

Dave Winfield, the admin of papermodelforum.com, sent the message, our own airdave.

I'd like to welcome everyone to the new and updated Forum site!
Since we moved, there have many new members signed up
and its great to see old members still hanging out here.

Yes, we've done some Spring cleaning,
and eliminated a lot of suspicious and long-time inactive accounts.
But if you are reading this update, then your account is still here and functioning!

I wanted to give everyone a Security Update.
A new security system was installed, using Image verification and security questions,
and it appears to working very well.
Its a tougher security gate to get through for automated spammers
and is helping to keep our forum clean from unwanted spam posters.

Unfortunately, the new security gate has been blocking new members from making their first post.
It also stops them from sending internal Private Messages (PMs).
We were unaware of this...but we have now corrected the situation.

If you tried to post something at the forum (or send a PM) please try again?!
If you've never posted at the Forum, you might want to make that first post and just say Hi.

I sincerely apologize for this error and hope to see your posts and comments real soon.

Yes, this one, Paper Modelers. I was reading a thread and was briefly unable to load a new page here, and was unable even to do a packet ping successfully to Paper Modelers. It resolved after a few minutes; it may have been an issue with a local address server. I apologize for misreading this thread and now understand that another site was being discussed.

Yes, from time to time, the server which hosts the forum, burps or hiccups.
Usually it is of short duration, sometimes a weee bit longer.

I was not working on the site last night, and the only work I have been doing the last week was moving our backup off Amazon S3. I would be interested to see the header information from the email that was sent as it will show where the email originated from.
