Lost my mother today

at 4:30 this afternoon my mother passed away.

due to the covid-19 crap we weren't able to be with her when she passed.
since october of '17 she was in a care home for her dementia.
from what my brother has relayed, the home does believe that she was suffering from covid, as she was displaying more and more symptoms over the last few days, and today she became non responsive, and her arms started to show signs of oxygen deprivation.

she was 80 years old, a survivor of Japanese prison camps in the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, she survived a bout of Encephalitis when she was a teenager.
she did become an American citizen back in 2004-5.
she always believed that my brother and i would do much better here in the States, and she lived long enough to see that.

she passed just shy of 2 months until my parents' 55th wedding anniversary.

Rick

Rick,

My condolences on your loss. I am really sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. It is a trying time, and it is even harder when you are not to be there with them. Thank you for sharing with us and if there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to ask.

Jason

I originally posted this in the Moderator's Lounge on Wednesday, as I wasn't totally sure how I was going to deal with it

But I wanted to share it with my second family

Terrible news, Rick. My first reaction was words I can't repeat here. It's hard enough to deal with this sort of thing as it is, the C-19 makes it even worse.

Deepest sympathy and condolences from myself and my wife also.
