Kits: Download or physical?
While I like physical kits as they are preprinted, I also do really like downloads for their convenience and speed of delivery.
Looking back on my purchases of the last few years, 90% have been downloads. Currently, downloads are my only option (and for other modellers in this region and many other countries) - the current crisis has resulted in their being unable to buy physical kits because of the postal services. Other countries have courier or postal issues, even in normal times. Other people just prefer downloads or stick to printed kits I am curious, IN THE CURRENT TIMES, which do you prefer? YOU CAN VOTE FOR ONE OF THE FIRST TWO OPTIONS AND THE LAST OPTION AS WELL!

I like download kits, because I like to repaint or make changes to the kits.

I wrote a book about how to build a small boat from plywood and planks. I was selling book through one of the Russian internet market. I had sold about 70 copies of the book and had got money from PayPal and Russian money system WebMoney.
I did fatal mistake. I must been withdrawn my money from my accounts imediatly. But I wanted to made purchases in I-net. In result I have got: (Russian) PayPal frose my money becouse they chahged own rules. To use PayPal you must be registred as enterpreneur. This is mad step in my country. Well, WebMoney changed own rules too. I lost my money again. In the end of this story what was happened? Try to gess? Yesss! My book had been stolen and upload in I-net for free. How do you think what I should answer on your question? I don't know.... I know only one: I shouldn't write in Russian.

To me, times doesn't matter. I always prefer downloads. Just like Gary, I like the fact that we can do repaints more easily and also add some changes or modifications if we want.
Another good thing is the possibility of reprinting if we did something incorrectly. If you do something wrong in the physical kit, it's much more difficult to get the spare parts.

Printed kits are nice, especially because of the printing quality, but I must say that I definitely prefer printing models at home. I make a lot of mistakes, and I like having the ability to print out extra parts (or the whole model!!) until I get satisfiable results. Rescaling is also a huge advantage, downscaling is a common option for people like me who have limited storage.
I have only purchased one printed kit from the Czech Republic (the Betexa Shuttle Atlantis, which was quite heavy on my wallet), and it's quite uncomfortable for me when ordering from overseas, because it's common for small deliveries to get lost during transitions, and the fact that the address is in a different language makes things a bit more confusing. And given the current situation, shipping isn't really ideal.... I noticed that Ecardmodels brought back the non Paypal checkout, which is a big plus moody 17 year olds like me who aren't eligible to use Paypal but own a cheque card. I'm a big racing fanatic, and most models are only sold as printed models. The folks at GP Team told me they were preparing for digital releases of existing models, and I wish others could do the same. Having the option for digital copies would really be helpful to people who can't import from overseas. Besides, the virus still exists and claims many lives, and I think now would be a good time to sell them digitally, for the sake of health and safety.

Downloads.
Shipping got crazy expensive in last few years and far less reliable than it ever was. I lost many kits in mail and never got money back. |

Actually I prefer to buy printed kits because of the print quality but there is a big problem with that.
The first thing I do when receiving a printed kit is scan it so I will have replacement parts if needed. However, I have found it nearly impossible to get an exact color match using my printer. Because of that complication I download. If I have printed the kit on my printer, I can duplicate the colors exactly for any necessary replacement parts.

Dear Kevin:
The other side is that download kit tends to be cheaper than the printed. Enjoy, Miles
