The Delaware Yankee has landed

Hi all,

I am getting settled here in Brenham, Texas, just got my TV and internet set up, so I thought it was time to bug the forum again.

I have attached some pictures from around here.

My brother noticed this little guy hanging out near the outside light, we named him Fred.

Buc-ee's, a chain of gas stations/convenience stores, is an experience.
The fuel island pictured has 12 rows, and each row can service 6 vehicles at a time, and there is a second island which can handle about half the number of the big island. The food, and drink options are mind blowing, and the gift store side of the shop can make you get lost.

That was a quick move. At least by now the humidity and temperature should be dropping and the mosquitos thinning out.

a fellow can survive anything if he has a Buc-ee’s nearby. Now you know, Rick, why they say everything’s bigger in Texas- including convenience stores.

When I first went in one I was reminded of a line from a Beavis and Butthead episode: “Everything I need for the rest of my life is in this store.”

Welcome to Texas, Rick.

Bucee's is a fairly new phenomenon, only in the last 10 or 15 years it seems. There are some small ones, but the mega-stop you saw is the norm. They have very clean bathrooms, which is a major concern for my wife, and maybe others. I seldom have to wait in line to get gas at any of them.

Enjoy the October weather, usually the best month of the year. In Winter, you will likely experience a "blue norther", a blast of freezing air with little or no moisture, that blows out any clouds, leaving the sky a beautiful sapphire blue, hence the name. In the Spring, around April, the bluebonnets will be in bloom, and you will be in the middle of them in Brenham. Summers just suck.

Thought those might be a newer chain since I haven't been over in that part of Texas in many years. Now don't really get east of I-35 were I'm usually heading north to Okla.

Hey VK, organic over there usually means roadkill.

About 300 feet from my door, is a rail line, so far I have seen Kansas City Southern, and BNSF trains roll through.

Even one carrying Wind turbine blades
