SpaceX Falcon 9 booster landing

They had a camera on the Falcon 9 booster pointing down as it reentered and made its landing back at Cape Canaveral today. There was also a remote camera showing the landing on the pad synced with the camera on the booster. It looked so neat. It still amazes me to see that thing land like that.

Doug - hopefully, it will be on YouTube - would like to look at that.

I remember as a child watching a grainy black and white of the view on the first man in space (or earth orbit flight) - it was to me so dramatic that I can still clearly remember it.

The view showed for the first time on the film the curve of the earth coming into view - and I was just in total awe as I watched it!

SpaceX have been doing that for years already, Doug.
And yes, every landing still looks amazing to me too. Especially when you get a grasp of how big that rocket really is!

I have seen the booster landing on the recovery ship numerous times but this is the first time I saw the camera on the booster synced to the remote camera and showing the landing all the way to touchdown on land.

Yep, those things are huge. Seeing the booster being returned to port and seeing the workers on the barge really gives a good idea of the size.

Cool. I watched the launch via YouTube but left when it was a couple minutes airborne, got to be time to start getting ready to go to creative writers group meeting.

The further the actual landings regress into history, the more important reliance on the TV images to preserve the legacy of Apollo becomes. Consequently the background story of this important footage deserved a detailed analysis for future reference. My book was born out of a personal curiosity to understand how the cameras functioned. Accordingly, my desire has been to create a book which reflects the excitement of rediscovering the long forgotten information pertaining to the role television played during Apollo. After intense research of the NASA archives and sources outside the space agency (such as the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) I discovered a fascinating subject which was crying out to have its voice heard.

After seeing a couple of successful barge landings and that one land-landing earlier on, I was really blown away by the simultaneous landing of the two Falcon Heavy boosters. That was a ballet with fireworks. One of the most amazing things I have seen in my life.
Maybe I am easy to entertain. (-;
