Knives and power tools are a nightmare.

Many many years ago i had an accident with a table saw. That taught me extreme caution with power tools!

I later worked as a wood working machinist and saw plenty of accidents... Ugh.

I also won't count the number of times a modelling knife has rolled off the table and missed my foot by an inch...

The strange thing is that after reading about your accident I was in the kitchen and cutting with a sharp knife when something said to me stop! I stopped and found I was about to take off the end of my finger as I had actually curled it around the blade (!!!!!!!) and was about to hit the board. Never done that in my life. Absolutely stupid!

Something similar happened to me a long time ago, my finger was cut to the bone and my fingernail gradually came down. I know what a horror this is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, Ray, to recover as quickly as possible.

I'm so sorry reading this.
A biker friend of mine once told me that biker are divided in two: those who have already fallen and those who have yet to fall. For paper modelers, but even for anyone, we can say the same: who has already cut and who has yet to cut.

I hope you can heal quickly.
A big hug!

Belated good wishes for a speedy recovery from this injury. Sounds like you got good medical care and are exerting ingenuity in dealing with the situation.

Kevin, Jaromir, Rosso and Don,
Thank you for the well wishes. I appreciate them!

Good medical care is questionable. The guy didn't deaden it in any way, did not prescribe anything for the pain or antibiotics.

Onward!

Ouch. I hope the healing goes quickly.

I play guitar and kitchen knives scare me. I purposefully don’t sharpen them as they get dull. I’d rather they squash a tomato than slice through a finger or two I need to chord or pick. Dealing with a No. 11 blade is risk enough for me.

I like playing my guitar for relaxation. A cut would drive me crazy.

Ouch. Paper is what you are supposed to be butchering, not your digits. And it wasn't even with an Xacto knife! Careful, mate.
