Firefly
Just finished binge-watching Firefly. <heavy sigh>
(Said in a Robin Williams/Mork tone of voice.) Don't know how/why I missed seeing it when it was aired, but WHAT A FANTASTIC SHOW! Gonna give myself some time to digest and ruminate on it all, then watch Serenity.

When it first came out, I didn't find out about it until a few episodes in. I don't remember if Fox changed its time slot or if another show I watched got moved against it, but I figured I could catch it in re-runs. Nope.
At least not until a few years back Definitely one of the best shows that didn't even make it through its first season. And what an odd episode for it to conclude on.

It's a pity it was canceled. I first discovered "Serenity", that I didn't understand completely. Then, when I saw "Firefly", I thought "Ah, that's why!". There are different design and build threads, just search for "firefly" in all the forums. Na-Nu Na-Nu!

That's actually what led me to finding/watching the series.

Truly one of the great SF shows that was cancelled way too soon.
Glenn, Perhaps a build of her in your near future? That would be a pleasure! |

There were fifteen episodes of Firefly written, although only fourteen were filmed.
Only 11 episodes were aired on Television. Those episodes were not aired in the correct as intended order. Its believed by many that Fox network's decision to air the episodes out of order made it more difficult to follow the story. Some episodes were also preempted by sporting events All this affected viewership resulting in very low ratings, which is why the show was cancelled before the end of the first season. While Serenity is a direct chronological sequel to the series, it was presented as a stand alone movie even though it played more like a lengthened TV episode. And it really helps to know the series before you see Serenity. [spoiler] Some found the film a bit disappointing, while others were saddened by the tragedies of major character deaths. It is a good film but does a poor job of wrapping up the series if its the only planned sequel.

Oh Firefly (and Serenity), short lived, but oh so good while it existed. I suppose the good thing is that it didn't rumble on too long through series after series with characters leaving, and the writing failing etc. And then there was Summer Glau 😊
