Paper / Card/ natural fiber sheets, etc. all have varying thickness. Do you find that there is sufficient allowances in paper models (printed form) to account for these variables?
This already is a theme for science research....

I ... think so ... (in my limited mind)
why? I happen to use "recycled" or used paper to make my models ... and this paper is very thin. then I glue the pieces on another layer of thicker paper ..
then..as everything is "straight" (both layers of paper 2,3,4,5 or up to 6 layers) there is no problem ... the problem happens WHEN FOLDING the paper ... the INNER layer folds STRAIGHT..and the most EXTERIOR bends "round" or curved .... until there .. just a problem of detail ...
the BIGGEST PROBLEM ... is that because of this ... both layers (interior and exterior) end up peeling off. the INNER layer (when bending fast and straight) ends further .... and the outer layer (when folding round, on the outside) ends earlier. this causes them to peel ... tear, or have curved paper.

of course..all this in my case. even so, in models where extreme precision is required ... a perfect folding is needed, you can take this into account as well.

Outside of that, my thoughts are that we're probably not soon going to be presented with a pure paper G scale live-steam working locomotive model with radio control via an all-paper radio system.

Why not?

As you may have guessed, I use wire and paper. But also, a lot of the manufacturers recommend using wire to reinforce landing gears or to model guns, masts, or aerials. As far as I know the Polish like Maly Modelarz and JSC.

As long as you are happy. No one is going to die if you add some pre-paper materials as wood, a little metal, or some transparent polymer for the windshields or windows.
As a matter of fact, Alvar Hansen the author of one of the few books I found about “Card (Paper) Modelling” advocates the use of the best material available.

Why not? Good answer!!! I use paper (of course) balsa wood, wire, acetate, fabric... for me don't matter what i use if the finished model looks better and spectacular.
