Free models on sale?!?

Don't know if this is the right forum to post this.

Surfing the web, I encountered a site that seams to sell free paper models [*]. I clearly recognized Greelt's F-1 rocket engine, sold in different scales. I know that it's kindly offered by Greelt on The Lower Hudson Valley E-Gift Shop. Also other models I know to be legally free are sold.

Is it possible to take some actions to stop what I see as a violation of rights?

If you see anywhere the same model offered in different scales you can safely bet it's a pirate and sometimes a pirate of a pirate.

There are worse cases.

In the giant web "Etsy" they sell pirated models scanned from commercial publishers with total impunity. also free.
And nothing happens!

I don't know the ins-and-outs of it, but I believe some folks here have been able to get pirated models taken down from the web (and more power to them). I also understand it took them a great deal of time and effort to do so. Guess it comes down to how commited you are. My feeling is that in this day and age piracy is a fact of life, and the best response most of us can have is to just ignore it. In other words, don't give it any oxygen.

Piracy and theft is NOT a "fact of life" that you (or we) have to accept and ignore.
Or is that just how you look at other people's loss?

Lets hope your house never gets broken into...it'll be funny when the cops tell you "its a fact of life, just ignore it".

I got a bee in my bonnet about eBay listings too for a bit there. I spent a few hours a time over two nights making complaints on each listing and on the seller’s profile and with eBay support on a dozen or so models listed by our friends and official sites - all available free. None of which got posted or responded or had any effect.

But I saved my template and every once in a while I renew my search. Maybe the vigilance will pay off. But I agree with others here. Say “no” to crime and power (meaning the sites that profit from these sales).

Legitimate eBay copyright complaints must go through the Vero program
(or thats how it used to be)
You sign up and become part of the program...
then, when you see your stuff being pirated, you can report it easily and it gets a response fairly quickly.
I signed up years ago and used it once or twice...it worked.

Ebay doesn't pay much attention to general reports on copyrighted material.
And if you aren't the actual IP owner, they will pay no attention.

But we can still show support for designers and file a complaint with ebay
and report it to the IP owner/designer (if possible) so they can take action.
I guess if ebay gets enough complaints about a listing, they have to at least give it a look.
