Someone should make the Alamo

It would be fine as a new Micromodel! It could have a little card base and the walls for the whole Alamo compound in miniature. Then the larger buldings like the Chapel and Barracks they would have some perspective to the whole. And the entireity would be small!

Hi, Lala;
Papermodels Online sell an Alamo model here The Alamo It is larger than Micromodel size, but you could print it smaller.

I'd like to see one with the whole layout, not just the chapel core.

I agree with LaLa; it would be great in Micromodels scale.

As I remember Dan at Delta 7 was talking about doing the Alamo and as I remember he had done quite a bit of research on the Alamo. Send him an email maybe he will finish it.

I am seriously thinking about designing the whole Alamo compound. It will be an easy model for wargaming (I've seen a scenario at the juniorgeneral.org). If I manage to complete it, I'd make it available for free (or almost for free).
I started collecting reference material, but if anyone can help me with finding information (plans and dimensions of the buildings would be great), it would be great.
If you want to help please PM me.

Best regards,
Kaz

How about three versions of the Alamo. Pristine and not ruins. The Mexican version before it was captured by the Texans and the most remembered, Battle for Independence of the Republic, (William B. Travis).

Super idea. It would make a perfect "iconic" Micromodels sized model. BTW, the old Monte Models series of historical US buildings (all in 1:87 scale) had a nice Alamo - with the Chapel and the whole square compound around it.

i started one years ago but there was not really much demand for it. two versions, modern and during the battle. at 1/72 scale for gaming, it takes a lot of pages and room. i even went to the Alamo and got the actual textures...

the link above should give you a good idea as to the complexity of the project. even without the roof and the entry details, that is six pages. the battle version would have to include the interior details of the time (no roof), the barracks, the walls, the fences, the well, the artillery emplacements, and the earthworks (lunette)....

History

Dear Kids and Kaz:
I was born in New York but raised in Texas. Still have a soft spot for Texas History even living back in upstate New York. I have unbuilt a kit from a trip to the ALAMO in 1968 a 1inch = 10feet. Paper model of the Alamo published by Mounte Enterprises P.O. Box 2391, New Bern, North Carolina 28560. Its the whole compound printed on 11x17 inch card 16 pages.
I keep hoping Dan at Delta 7 will complete his version.
I guess at sometime I will try to copy or scan Mine and build it.

Hope this info helps,
Miles
