Here is my list: 1. SD14 Cargo Ship, Marcle Models. 2. HMV Bismarck w/all the photo etch and detail book. 3. Angraf Famo. 4. Angraf Ty-45. 5. Kooklik Big Boy. 6. Kenwest B-58. To me these top out as the cream of the crop as far as kits go and there are many more. :DRick

I second the SD14 Cargo Ship by Marcle Models. Marco did a "Sick!" job on that beast. That's a daunting, detailed masterpiece.

In my book, that would be the unbelievable SD-14 Freighter 1:70 that is sold through Markle Models, but I think it gets delivered with a truck, and takes two years and a small warehouse to build it in. The Makit combination of two models: Brussels Stadhuis and Groot Markt is window perfect and beautiful. Someone brought it, built, to the 2008 Int'l Paper Model Convention (I think it was that year) with the spring flower market laid out in the central square. But not available for love or money, as far as I know. As for the ultimate aircraft? I agree: Alan Rose's DC3, though I think we need the rear half to go with it, so that as the front emerges into one room, the rear half is disappearing into the wall of the adjacent room. Or maybe the 1:50 Wilhelmshaven Do-X. The ultimate vehicle? That would IMHO be Peter Zorn's 1/24 MG Kimber Special Old Number 1. And for fantasy, there is the 1:1 scale Droideka , designed by Eric Ward for in theater promotions of Episode 1 of Star Wars. The full package weighs about 35 pounds.

Are you thinking of building the UPM? Cheers,

I guess I'll way in here. I'm a lowly beginner compared to about 98% of the folks here, but I'd have to say that Ken's B-58 is tops for me. I have it, and I'm a bit scared to do it right now.

Of the handful of preprinted kits I have, it's a tie between the Fly model F-117 Nighthawk (with stars and stripes on belly of plane) and the GPM Puma helicopter. Both of those seem very detailed and daunting to me. Plus, the thought of screwing up is frightful.

There's also this working V12 engine kit by Sheung Yee Shing:

V12 Engine Paper Model

I didn't mention already that I think each and every one of Uhu's models are the ultimate...
