Billy, I have a slightly different way of looking at what is the ultimate paper model....in my mind, the ultimate paper model is the model that one designs and makes himself (or herself), especially if the subject is one that has not existed in the modeling community until that person created it....and it really doesn't matter be it drawn by hand on a single sheet of paper or computer graphics on dozens of sheets of paper. Once one accomplishes that, all else is just assembling kits.

That is a very nice way of looking at it, Darwin, and i have to agree with you on the "ultimate" personal achievement , it's the thing that separates 'us' from other modelers. I'm just curious, because I'm collecting papermodels for a long time what other people's favourite models are.
BTW, I can see the direction where this is going; Bigger and more parts ...:D Maybe I should have called this thread what's the biggest , most expensive and most difficult model... |

Re: Brussels Groot Markt and Stadhuis by Makit. It was the 7th Int'l Paper Model Convention, in 2006. and Bill O'Neill was the builder. Here it is.

I have so many people that have been in awe or the artist automaton that it may end up being the 2nd model I purchase.
Billy, all your models come out so good that I am of the opinion that your standard for personal best is , well, achieved? (I know that is impossible to say for someone else.). I still vote for the Artist Model, it is the only kind of model I have yet to see you build, and it would make one helluva build thread! |
