U.s.f. Constitution 21 october 1797-2012
Today is the 215th anniversary of the launching of the U.S.F. Constitution...such a glorious and strong ship, she served our country with dignity and splendor throughout several conflicts in the infancy of this nation, and was quite successful in all of her exploits, never losing a battle in which she was engaged...may she continue to sail and serve as a memorial to the brave souls that fought her decks and protected our citizens over the many, many years she has been commissioned. I hope everyone has the chance to visit her at least once to fully appreciate her beauty and the conditions under which our brave sailors were forced to endure in protecting our young nation, and to appreciate the character of our forefathers who had to endure such troubling and harsh times so we can enjoy our current freedoms and liberty. Huzzah!!

I built the Revell Plastic version back in 1967. I still have her in my office. She has been shipped back and forth across the US three times. I had to restore it a few years ago do to aging issues not to mention the dust problem. But for 46 years old she looks pretty good.

Yes Sir Jim! What a treasure to have this wooden ship from another age! She's the real deal.

Amen, Glen!!
Tim, that a very nice model...I built a smaller version of her decades, and I do mean, DECADES, ago, it didn't survive housecleaning when I was away for school, but I have the 1/96 Revell kit sitting in the garage waiting for me to build...along with the United States kit (the same scale one that has the poop deck cabin on it). Fine kits, good, accurate design for 1812, unlike the other versions Revell put out later that are based on the 1929 restoration plans. I love your model, Tim, you've taken fairly good care of her and she does show the same beautiful lines as the original. Cheers! Jim |
