Great model, great build, and I enjoyed all the nostalgia along the way. We took our honeymoon along the coast of Rhode Island and Mass in an orange '71 Microbus, belonging to my father -in-law, and that one will always be special for us. My kid brother, bitten by the 1:1 scale hobby bug, restores these on nights and weekends. His wife despairs of ever getting their garage back, as he has worked through ninve of them now. Always 1973, and usually the camper version. He told me he has one finished and for sale now...not quite as pricey as a 1960s one perhaps. If curious, here it is: John Tauxe's 1973 Westfalia Deluxe

Congrats on not just a great build but a build that has finally happened online.

Your bus is a real looker, I like the chrome trim in particular, thanks for sharing.

Glad to see this great thread and build get a bump.
Many years ago I downloaded this model, was thoroughly intimidated by it, and was glad to see someone had the skill and temerity to give it a go and complete it successfully. Don |
