Thanks boosed! The jeep is building itself... I'm just squirtin' glue at it!

But seriously it means a lot. Your comments and the comments of others here humble me. I mean, this board seems to house some of the finest modelers I've ever seen. And to have modelers of such high caliber complement my work really makes me... Well, it makes me enjoy this hobby much more. And it strokes my "at-a-boy" complex! Makes me wanna show off.

OK, so I did a little more work today.

Until you showed us your superb model, I hadn't paid much attention to jeeps later than the CJ model, but now I am beginning to notice YJs here and there, including a blue one that lives just a few doors away from me.

Wondering about the model designations led me to these pages, which I am sure you are already very familiar:

Jeep Body Codes (CJ, YJ, TJ, WJ, KJ, KW etc) - SA 4x4 Community Forum

Jeep Model Designations (This one taught me something I should already have known about the "GP designation: "'G' indicated government issue; 'P' indicated an 80" wheelbase reconnaissance vehicle."

And, of course, the old stand-by, Wikipedia: List of Jeep vehicles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks for sharing your beautiful model jeep with us and for leading me to add to my knowledge of designations of military vehicles.

Don

Very nice looking project so far. That is some very impressive work for being hand drawn.

Cool truck! Some day I swear I'm going to draw up my Scout to have some off-road competition in the paper vehicle category

Hey Boosed... Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Thanks for your interest in my Jeep project. And thanks to everyone for the kind words and support!

What can I say? I'm a "ship" guy and, while this is a fun build, I lose interest in it from time to time. So here is the only progress I've made on it for a while.
Made up some rims and mocked up some tires. This is gonna take a while!

The tires were the part of the build that I have dreaded from the get go. So, I figured I'd get them out of the way so I could concentrate on the steering, engine, trans and transfer. But sadly, I believe I'm gonna go another route. I'm not satisfied with the way they are turning out.
