Thanks everyone for the comments It feels great to be back on the forum...

Alan - This model indeed felt like a good model to start back up, considering the time I've been waiting for it to be released loudog definitely made the wait worth it..

emanuele - Glad I didn't disappoint I posted some of the earlier pics on a facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...0351173&type=1
It's shared public so you might be able to see it. I started the front wheel so I'll post more detailed pictures.

Edgardo & Peter - Looking forward to post more frequently, always found a lot of inspiration from the work you guys are sharing here

Cheers!

Thanks Gerardo,

I finished the front wheel and managed to rake some pictures of the process.

Basically, I built two copies of the tyre. On one copy I marked for the tread. It would look way more cooler if Loudog's tread can be carved out but I didn't have enough in me to go for it so I settled for a simple tread.

Once marked, I cut out the tread and glue it over the other copy of the tyre. Then i apply a layer of wood putty and prick out the filling from the tread before it dries out.

Then I sand down until the desired round shape is reached. Then extra putty can be applied and sanded down further where necessary.

The basic shape of the model is complete and I managed to do some detaining. There are some additions pending around the model. Should be done in a few weeks

Looking awesome so far, Viraj! I like how you (just like Marchal) actually cut out the holes on the frame of the bike. That takes some serious skill to do. The tires look like they have a good texture and flat color which makes them look like real tire rubber--very nice. Overall it looks really clean and smooth and definitely customized. Love seeing how different modelers spin their own interpretation on the same model. That's what its all about in this hobby.

Thanks LD for the complements..means a lot coming from the designer himself The drilled frame is surprisingly easy to build actually. The fuel tank gave me the most grief so far.

I used 80 grit sand paper and poster colours on the tires as opposed to 100 grit and spray paint elsewhere which gave the contrasting texture. I will use some clear varnish on the frame and the tank later on which will gloss it up a bit

The last few bits of the build completed last night...

I decided to scratch build a double headlight to replace the original headlight. It doesn't look like Walz's bike but I prefer the look of the double headlights....

The build is 99.9% done. I'm waiting on some clear varnish to finish it off..Pictures will follow soon.

Wow, every time I see this model it blows me away... Alan's was awesome already but with the putty, paint and extra details Nazgul has taken it to another level, very nice job indeed. Congrats also to loudog for an outstanding design... I especially love the air filter but overall, it's a fantastic looking model.
