1/24 scratch built drop deck trailer
I figured I would post this here because it is made all out of paper except the wheels and kingpin.
This is my 1/24 scale 48 ft drop deck trailer I scratch built to go with my 1/24 Kenworth W900 custom. The top deck is made with aluminum tape stuck to cardstock then cut to size and then scored with the lines for detail. All I really have left on this build is building the 10 utility boxes that go underneath and building the load to go on top of it. Hope you enjoy. Sorry for the Pl***ic truck in the pic but it had to be there. LOL |

Nice trailer, impressed with the details on the bed.
The Condo sleeper on the KW looks nice, did you scratch build that?

Very cool...My wifes sister and brother-in-law drive a rig a lot like that one and they haul jet engines, so I'm watching your build with interest....Rich

Great trailer, Inky, right down to the jack cranks. I guess with a jet engine you don't want to pull over for long, but with that sleeper you could carry 2-3 drivers and all the hot dogs they can eat.

Most the people that own these big trucks are husband and wife team drivers and they basically live on the road for a month or so at a time. These sleepers are like RV's inside or a small apartment.

I grew up around tractor trucks because my dad was a medium-distance driver (usually just overnight runs). He even owned his on tractor for awhile in the '60s. The trucks he drove didn't have sleepers, though you could take a nap across the full-width seats. I think you could get a sleeper back then, but it was a tin can with a cot in it. Trucking has changed a lot over the years.

Inky, good job on the trailer. That condo sleeper is something else. Far cry from the old trailer sleepers that wasn't much more then a canister on the front of the trailer that you slid into. I get clausto just looking at photos of those.
