I remember there was an after-market company that had a 'wagon' conversion package available, but it didn't quite look like that.

Pontiac Actually had one or 2 made as a test but on the 77-80 era design.
Airfix offered a Plastic kit of it and Lindberg re-issued it some years later.
Lindberg did add chrome to those parts that should have been such

The actual car(s) started life as 77/78 grill, etc and (one) was later updated
to the 79/80 look.

do a Google search on Firebird Wagon. There have been many after market pieces made, and Pontiac had a very few cars that they toured with for car shows, but never really went into full production.

Thanks for that link. This was the one I saw most

Even a volunteer fireman that I knew at the time had that conversion. The wagon shell replaced the rear glass/deck lid. On his the side glass was hinged (but didn't raise far enough out of the way). This may not be the version he had, but it is close.

That's... interesting. Much better than the second gen version IMO Has the c-pillar been replaced? It looks disconnected. I'm surprised they wouldn't leave it original, and just make a bolt-on part to replace the glass. Maybe that wouldn't work for some reason...?

That should be the original C-pillar, at least if it is like the fireman's. His was set up to be hinged off the back glass hinges and latched in the latch. This photo was just one that looked similar to the one I had seen.

Yeah... the back glass lifts and the side hatches lift. The entire thing looks like it would be too heavy to lift using the original hinges. Some people like it, some don't. Me, I'd never drive it. I'd be too embarrassed. the one in that pic, I believe, was one of the 2 that Pontiac made for the car shows. I think I read that somewhere.
