'82-'84 Firebird Pack

Hi everyone,

This is my first build thread! Hopefully it is in the right section... Anyway, this started as a Knight Rider request from mchale, and I thought why not expand it? I'm working a collection of Pontiac Trans Ams that will include the different versions of KITT, Michael Long's Trans Am, standard T/As in factory colors, and maybe some special editions like 15th anniversary.

There will basically only be 2 versions of the car (Knight Rider and standard); besides that the differences will only be with regards to the texture images. All will have the turbo hood, t-tops, and a spoiler. Right now I'm not planning to make the interior. I'm not sure what the scale will be yet either.

It's slow going (I tend to work on multiple things at once, paper model and otherwise!) but so far I have the 3D mesh for the standard Firebird almost done. I know there are several KITT models already out there, but this sounded like something fun to try. We'll see how it goes!

I look forward to watching the development on this. I like the firebirds and camaros.

You designing a Trans-Am, even KITT, but not Bandit's T-A? Model looks good either way!

Thanks guys

Legion, was there a third generation Bandit? I ask because I don't know, however it would be easy enough to apply the same color scheme.

For the scale:
Bigger scale = bigger model,
Smaller scale = more models...

I think I'll go with 1/24. A tiny bit bigger than 1/25 but small enough to make a bunch.

Mchale, I could put mine in there too, or at least what it will look like sometime in the future.

A few custom painted ones might be a nice addition. I thought these were kind of cool:

Maybe if I worked on the model instead of googling images I could get it done sooner :D

The back of the car is done, still trying to get the hood the way I want it. Also making some of the texture map...

Love K.I.T.T. I actually thought really hard about building a replica kitt, but money thought otherwise.

Thanks mchale

Spencer, I know how that goes! Building any car isn't cheap, but it never ceases to amaze me how much some KITT replica items are. For example, I was looking on eBay for some interior parts a few years ago and there was a guy selling "KITT Knight Rider doeskin" dashboard trim pieces for a pretty penny. Funny thing is, KITT had a black dash and not tan. As with anything else, knowing what to look for and where to look for it can really help you.

ThunderChild has kindly offered to provide an interior that could be modified for the KITT models. He did a very nice render a while back, here is the link he sent me: 3D Models by ThunderChildFTC on deviantART. Pretty cool
