Mk 2 Ford Escort
Hi,
Not much time due to work, but Build 4 was completed with more tweaking required. The model I want to build is the 1979/80 Mk 2 Escort Harrier (the car I would have loved to have owned as I finished high-school). Build 4 has tighter panels and the Harrier graphics worked out well, but the wheels have not. They are too big and need to be dished. A little more panel tweaking, boot lid spoiler and driving lights are needed, which will all be on Build 5 (hopefully the last). Here are some pics. Cheers, Ian B. |

Thanks. Amazing what photos show that you sometimes cannot see w/ the naked eye - presumably because they flatten 3D items to 2D.
Looking at the pics again, I can see there is a LOT wrong w/ it now - for a start I had not noticed that the side graphic is too big (I didn't rescale correctly and it falls below the waist contour). The front of the car is too narrow as the bonnet it too narrow, the windshield area is too small and shading is incorrect on the windows. The blacked grill is too small and the The wheels are definitely too big. The '79 / 80 does not have a chin spoiler. Just goes to show there are lots of variations in blueprints / reference pics out there. I guess Build #5 may not be the last, but maybe the beginning of the last. Once I am completely happy w/ the bare template / final model, I will upload. Ian B. |

Almost complete. Spent some time improving dimensions (widening the front - too narrow), better window reflections and creating boot spoiler / driving lights. I made some better 3D wheels - I wanted to keep it as simple as possible but they do add to the overall effect. First attempt was too wide - the later version sits better. I just need to get off my a*se and finish it.

From the look of the car, it would suggest that my wife tried to park it!
See: rear of the car. Brilliant work - if only there was a Bristol 411. |
