Mercedes Benz 500K - Wrebbit

Okay, here we go - I originally started building this model almost 10 years ago, but life happened and it got put away - recently came back to it and found PaperModelers while looking for anyone who completed the model. So my pics start off with the chassis and motor built and started working on the body. These are as it came back off the shelf - minus a little dust:

Work on the tires - the kit provided two methods of building the tires - I opted for the version that builds actual spokes into the tires:

Cool! Thanks for sharing, I will be watching this one. I had that kit years ago, partially finished, but when I moved it didn't make the cut so to speak, and had to be tossed. I got another off of eBay a while back, but the printing was off and didn't match up with the shapes of the parts. I was bummed, as I had developed a real jones to build that thing. Oh, well, I can at least build it vicariously through you. Looks great so far!

Formers built for molding the hood, and the hood clamped in to dry.

The hood installed - had a lot of trouble with the fit on this - still not 100%, the cardstock for the top joining hinge is too heavy to fold properly - may dismantle this and try building a replacement piece out of lighter card.

Wow it's coming right along. I remember the instruction book being a work of art in itself, almost...

I have one of these.
Might try my hand at it
But, It Is a larger scale than I like!
Sure wish it was 1/24-1/25 instead of 1/16-1/18.

Very nice and interesting. This is in my "wish list", and this will be a nice opportunity to see it built. You are doing great.
