Simple tab corvettes
While on vacation this month we stopped at the National Corvette Museum and in the gift shop I found these cute little one piece cardstock corvettes. And they arnt little either. But for something that uses tabs and takes about 2 minutes to construct, they arnt half bad! The black one is, IIRC, a 53 while the red one is the 56 version.
You know, they look awfully familier. I am sure I have seen similar cardstock cars posted here that were used to serve fast food... |

Those are nice models and, being simple enough for an inexperienced builder to actually put together and have a decent-looking and recognizable model of a Corvette with a minimum of work, they are a good advertisement for the paper modeling craft, as well as for the museum.
The first paper model I ever built was a die-cut and tabbed model of a Mayflower moving van that was given to me when we moved to Baltimore in December 1946. They must have given me two of them, since I still have one copy, brown with age. The Cape May - Lewes Ferry gift shop sells a paper model of one of the ships that makes up into a very decent model about 18 inches long. I'm really glad to see these simplified, but attractive paper models being made available. Don |

Those are really nice for simple models. Put them on a top shelf and no one can see the void where the passenger cabin should be. Did you scan these before you built them? You could have a lot of fun modifying them

Very nice looking indeed, but I would like to point out that the red one is a '58 revealed by the 2 chrome strips on the decklid the fancier side cove and the quad headlights (that we do not see on the pics). I am pretty sure that all '53s were white and colors were made available only from 1954 on, but black really looks good. I have always liked these simple designs and it is the first time I see the '53 (or '54), thanks for sharing!

Cami is correct on the color for 53: all were Polo White with red interior. In 1954 a couple of other colors, including black, were added. But no real differences in the cars.

Steak & Shake offers cardboard cars like that as kids toys. Just grabbed one the other day for my 22 month-old to play with. Lasted a day or two...
