Burger Box Cruisers
I was at the local Chicken Burger Restaurant here yesterday and spotted these big paper cars. I asked to have one - a 1958 Buick Century. It was later that I realized that it was to be packed and served with a kids meal. Anyway, it looks pretty cool though and the link below will show you all of the other available models.

The car is pretty big. Guess it has to be if you are going to fill it up with burgers and fries.

I remember seeing these a few time as a kid - we have a local ice cream shop that still serves up certain food in these, but they're not as detailed as this one. Nice variety!

OK, not perfect models, but very interesting cheap toys.
I just had a wade right through their catalogue ... oh to be a kid again,eh? There are smaller versions of the cars available ... on page 36. but I'm not about to order by the carton (120 pces). Fortunately the Mrs was dozing in front of the TV when I hit the Beanie Babies. She's got hundreds of the lil' blighters in our bedroom. Every time I wake up they're all staring at me. Glad they ain't got illuminous eyes. I'd never sleep. Johnny. |

Very similar (if not licensed from the same company) models are available for the asking at Steak-N-Shake restaurants in the U.S.

Seem to remember that some restaurant --perhaps Steak-N-Shake -- comissioned Corey Ertz to design several car models about a year ago. Whatever the details, it reminded me once again how many businesses are missing a great promotional opportunity by not commissioning their own models. There could be models of the kinds of merchandise a store sells, if not the store itself. Any company that has its own specialty vehicles or equipment could have corresponding models -- such as a semi truck with the grocery store's logo. Inexpensive, too, whether printed in quantity or made downloadable from the company website.
And just today the wife and I had lunch at Panda Express, which had many posters of a panda wearing a chef's jacket and hat. That would be ideal as a paper model.

The local Maid-Rite diner here in Burlington has these for kid meal containers. They said they would sell them separately (w/o kid food). I just haven't taken them up on it yet...

Perry,
If you can get hold of them as singles, I'd be interested in buying some. Kids Stuff only sell them in cartons of 100+, and they're iffy about sending them to UK. Johnny. |
