just waltzing along

Hello, long time again no writing.....
Anyone still lurking around ?

suddendly i moved from tectonical to glacier speed

Ironing out errors and stupid builds whilst tweeking the constuction.

The 'mechanical' parts are somewhat finished, so thats left all other parts and details which are not heavyly loaded.

Trying out much of methods and details, this time i just want to see if and how far i could delving into details and such. Due to the constant training of my fingers i not anymore limited to 2mm big parts, i now can go up to 1mm small parts. (but keep your breath )

In the picture you see :

top-left - the frame of the vehicle (its a wheeldriven model)
top- right - one of the few axles (still without the wheel and the wheel carrier, and the wheel itself)
bottom-left - some parts of the arm
bottom-right - one of the many cylinders (although one of the largest)

I try to manage all assembly goups as good and detailed as possible and modular as possible so that at last i have a good base for other models which could use parts of this.

At present i used (or wasted, point of view ) 40 pages on the model and i think there are much other still to come around, so my estimation currently is you have to print out some 100 pages. An other estimation is that the finished modell will weight around 2 kg.

The weight be an issue for the axles, maybe at last i must provide some supports which will reliefe the axles. (good thing is that all axles have an endstop (although i have to make them bigger as real then), so that leaves only the transition from the axels to the wheels.

Although i designed a cylinder i still pounder a good and reliable construcion of hydraulic-cylinders.
Problem is that i want to have a cylinder which works (not in terms of hydraulic fluid); slides in and out and still can be loaded and will stay on place.
Currently prefered method is a backing which could be cut to the desired length and could be hooked into the model.

Difference to my former models will be that i more demand a explicit card-thicknes (i have restraint me to 1mm and 0.5mm) and will often use the thicknes and make stacked parts. But i still design that the thickness will have no influence, so far as possible.

Ahhh - btw : anyone figured or guessed out what this will be ??

This is going to be a paper-engineering masterpiece when it's finished, I can't wait to get my hands on it. I also can't wait till someone guesses what it is so I can post some pics of the ones I used to work with.

OK I'll guess: A concrete pumper truck. Maybe a Schwing or something similar.

small sturctural update

The boom is finished as a mechanical assembly-group.
Just couldn't bee as close as i wanted to the 'ideal' antetype (don't know if thats the right term)

Next are the hydraulic-cylinders and the locking-devices of the boom.

Not a small modell - the cutting matress is A2-size.

On the sideline is always the rest of the modell in details, hopefully i can show soon the axels of the vehicle.

(just don't look at the date :-) had crash of the camera )

Wow, looking very impressive already, I can't wait to build it even though I don't work with/near them anymore they are still a mighty impressive beast to see in action.

I'm assuming this will be white like your other models so I'm currently searching for a colour scheme I like to paint mine when I build it, I haven't found anything I like yet so might just go with a white one similar to one I used to work with a lot when I drove a concrete truck.

Here's a couple of pics to give people more of an idea of what this beast might look like...

My first employer would occasionally get a request from a customer for a creter crane. This would be a hydraulic crane with a conveyor system mounted on top of the boom. Similar to this project , but definitely not identical.
