Motor Trend paper models

Hi all,

I was fortunate enough to score on ebay a copy of the Corvette 4 Rotor prototype paper model.

According to the article, the Corvette was one of 4 or 6 paper models released by Motor Trend back in the 1973/1974 time frame.

The Corvette was part of the January '74 issue.

My question is, I have seen a picture with the other models on display, but I have been having a hard trying to find the issues of Motor Trend which contain those models, does anyone know which issues the models appeared in?

Thanks in advance

Rick

Ok, some further digging has me looking at the time frame from August 1973 to January 1974, there are 6 models.

The August 1973 issue has a Mercedes Benz C-111
The September 1973 issue has the BMW Fiery Turbo, not sure what it is, but it sounds intriguing
The October 1973 issue has the Silver Arrow III, no idea really
The November 1973 issue has the Custom Corvette, just copying what it says in the table of content
The December 1973 issue has the Fiberfab Aston Martin
The January 1974 issue is the 4 Rotor Corvette.

I have no idea if they are correct, i guess the next steps would be to email Motor Trend, or check to see if Google scanned any of the magazines

I wonder if the publishers of Motor Trend would be amenable to a reissue of the models.

I will definitely ask that Don.

But as I study the 4 Rotor Corvette kit, one thing jumped out at me.

They suggest raiding a plastic car kit for the wheels and tires and if it has metal axles, those too, and the steering wheel assembly from that kit

yeah and they suggest getting 200 and 400 grit sandpaper to smooth the edges

and painting the model when done

Of the Motor Trend issues you have listed, only the Jan 74 cover states
that the magazine contains a paper model.

August, September, and October mention the cars you list on the covers
but only because they are the featured "Car of the Month" for that issue.

If there are other paper models, you may have the wrong issues?

Dave,

That is what I am afraid of.

I think that an email to Motor Trend is in order

December issue 1973 does have a Mercedes model inside!
It states in the Index "build your own Mercedes C-111"

All the issues you want are available through various vendors on eBay right now.
Just search "Motor trend 1973"

In fact this guy has four of the issues:
1973 Motor Trend Magazine Lot of 10 Great Overall Shape! | eBay

why not just message him and ask him if the models are in there?
