My name is Bond ...

I give you the Bond Family

First came the Mk A ... Mk B is same with engine mods.

Then came the slightly prettier Mk C ...

Really only a new grill for the Mk D ...

Complete new body for the 875 Mk 1 ...

New grill and lights for the 875 Mk 2 ...

And Reliant wouldn't put their name to this, so they called it a Bond ...

Stay tuned. There's plenty more of them to come.
Keep on snippin'.

Johnny.

They are getting quite rare over here too Cami. They were very much a thing of the European 50s/60s scene, sparked off by the Suez War and the resultant fuel shortages. There is still quite a strong fan base in the Classic & Collectors Car scene, but other than the Mini, Fiat 500, and 2CV, they are a rare sight on our roads now.

I assure you, riding in one on a Motorway can give you the ultimate adrenalin rush ... Outright terror!

Johnny.

PS: Where's me Hudson then? I ain't gettin' any younger y'know.

If I only had more time Johnny, but I'm going back to school for a year and a half to get a new job. The Hudson is calling me though, so if I have a little of spare times, I will give it a try.

Well ... in Germany, things started off immediately after the end of WWII; DKW, a German car maker, had already gathered some experience with car bodies made of plywood covered with synthetic leather before the war. Immediately after the war, sheet steel was expensive and hard to get, which is why Lloyd, another German car manufacturer, built its 600 cc model the same way, plywood car body, covered with synthetic leather.
In Great Britain, I've heard, three-wheelers were popular because you'd only need a motorbike license to drive them.

Coo, ya shouldn't have opened this thread up again Tex.

I've got loads more of the little blighters to add yet, but I've been distracted elsewhere building birds and houses.

But ... I will be back.

Johnny.

Johnny,

Thanks for posting the Fiat pics! Sorry that it took so many months to respond. I guess that I got caught up in a few thousand other posts.

I love the "micro" cars...there is a guy that lives somewhere near me that has 2 BMW Isetta bubble cars, a blue one and a white one. I have seen him on the roads near my apt. but don't know where he lives, would love to get a good look at them. There was a BMW Isetta that sat on the roof of a trucking company in Dallas for years, then about 2 years ago it vanished......Rich
P.S. your builds look fantastic Johnny!

@ John M

"Coo, ya shouldn't have opened this thread up again Tex."

... OOPS! Well ... bless my heart! SORRY!

"I've got loads more of the little blighters to add yet, but I've been distracted elsewhere building birds and houses."

Hmmm ... birdhouses? ;-)

I sure hope to see more of those great lil' bubble cars real soon, and I'd be surprised if I were the only one on here!

- Tex
