Streetpaper Advent 2012
Just finished the Day 1 Opel Kadett on scrap paper as a beta build. As I like to do, I printed the plan twice and glued one on top of the other with PVA. Didn't follow the way to glue it but cut away the sides in order to assemble the top. In this way, you don't have a too boxy car but somehow can retain some of the convex parts of the body. I think the scale is about 1/43, please correct me if I'm wrong. Perhaps the next one, I'll print it on fresh paper to build. Enjoy the pics.

Looks good. I think these don't go for a particular scale. The Rolls is certainly a different scale than the Alfasuds and Opels. I was guessing 1/35 to 1/43. Will we be seeing a 1/200 series?

Thank you, Vermin King and Cami. Only if I'm certain about the scale of these advent models would I consider shrinking them to 1/200. I have done so in the armoured vehicles series, and there shouldn't be too much difficulty doing the same thing.

The problem is that one would have to look up the cars' wheelbases and calculate for each one, and some of the unfamiliar cars don't have the year listed. The builds on these are a lot more straightforward than some of the other racepaper/streetpaper models. That would make it a lot more feasible. I must admit, I like how you achieved the rounder appearance on this one.

the scale that Volker releases his vehicles in is 1:43
it is not stated on any of his sites, he mentioned it once or twice in one of the mailing lists that are around

It may be his ballpark scale, but compare the Rolls in this series to the Opel. Can't be the same scale.

Just to set the record straight, the Day 1 model is an Opel Rekord Coupe. I have tried to print it at 1/200 but that's really too blurry on normal printing paper! May be photo prints are much better.

Actually the Day one car is an Opel Rekord, not a Kadett, it is a bigger car, and compared to the Rolls, would be only a foot to 18 inches shorter

Hi Papermate,
Nice job  - you have completed one of the projects I also have on my 'to do' list - Opel Rekord / Commodore C GSE. Very nice looking cars - I am hoping to do one in 1/18 th scale when I get the chance. Look forward to seeing your other. Gearhead |
