Liebherr L586 Wheel Loader 1:25
After almost finishing the low-loader trailer , I could no longer resist the urge to start my next project, so here it is:
This model was developed by Mory and Iconmaster and is available (free) from papermodelers.sk After viewing some rather inspirational builds recently, in particular this one and this one, I will be pushing my boundaries in the detail department with this model so it's going to be a lengthy build. There are 29 pages of parts, almost all of them need to be laminated to 5 different thicknesses ranging from 160gsm up to 2mm, this process took me about a week after allowing sufficient drying time under a heavy load. Cutting out the 2mm stuff is going to hurt, especially when I get to the tyre treads... It's times like these I seriously consider buying myself a laser cutter The main frames are cut and ready to glue, pics coming soon. |

After weeks of planning, pre-reading instructions/build threads and a heap of laminating, I've started gluing.
When gluing the 2x2mm parts of the frame sides together I've ended up withsides that are 5mm thick, I think this is due to the 220gsm paper I printed the parts on, hopefully it won't cause any major fitting issues later on. As for fit, so far everything fits well with only a bit of trimming and sanding required but the model has been designed to allow for this. I've been applying a small amount of CA/superglue along the edges to allow for sanding, I purchased a small rotary tool which has helped a lot already with the sanding and drilling. |

On to the "front bit".
So far everything is going together well, although the pictures in the instructions don't show where everything goes but all parts are marked where another part is to be attached to it, so combining this with multiple build threads on papermodelers.sk I've so far been able to figure out where most of it goes, with a couple of exceptions... I've taken some pics on different angles to show some of these parts hoping it might help anyone planning to build this model. |
