1930's Cars

Hello Friends,

I needed several cars for a diorama I am building here: Micromodels LS III "Terminal Station" Diorama
I have taken these from the HMV Diorama Hamburg Deichstrasse (Which BTW, I have been meaning to upload pictures of the real one for reference and enjoyment) and scaled UP from 1:250 to 1:200.

Obviously, these are Mercedes but I think they might pass as Austin's without asking too much from the viewer.

I have converted two into Taxi's and kept the third as a private car.

Kind Regards,

Cris

Wow - they look great. I can't believe that you were able to build the headlights at that scale.

Good idea. I was going to suggest the vehicles from the HMV Harbour diorama in your bus post!

What material did you use for the windows?

And how did you make the headlamps?!!!!

Hi Friends,

Thank you for the kind words! rmks2000, if you like these, have a look in my Hamburger Hafen thread and you can see the cars in their proper 1:250 scale. Kevin, the headlights are 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mm disc's that I punched out of thick card and sandwiched together (to add relief). A dot of blue marker gives the illusion of glass. The windows are transparency film painted on the inside with flat black enamel.

Best Regards,

Cris
