Showman's Traction Engine

I made this about 30 years ago but don't have it anymore and would like to have another go.

Does anyone know where I might find a kit?

Cheers

Mike

Is this any good to you Mike? I tried to lift a picture, but all I could get was a very indistinct thumbnail.

Fairground traction engine | Oxfam GB | Shop They want £50 for it.

I dug deeper and found this picture on another (USA) site ... They are asking $100 though.

Johhny.
Thanks for the digging - that isn't the model I was thinking of, this one looks more basic than the one I am looking for. Apart from that it is interesting.
How did you find someting so obscure and at Oxfam!

I've passed on the link to my daughter, she never knows what to get me for Christmas and this means I may get more than a pair of socks ;-)

I know it's very kind of you to go to all the trouble - but you should get out a bit more ;-))

Cheers
Mike

It wasn't so hard to find Mike. i just typed 'paper traction engine' into the Google Images search box, and the picture was about five rows down. I had to click 'Get more images' before I found it again on the US site though.

I often use Google Images set to 'Papercraft' or 'paper model' and just scan through the pictures until something grabs my attention. It's surprising what little gems you can turn up. Clicking on a picture brings up the option to visit the website it was found on.

It was a while ago now, but I do believe that was how I discovered this forum, and a few others as well.

Searching through 'The Papercraft Museum' reveals many useful sources too.

Johnny.

PS: In all those pictures, this was the only paper model 'Showman Engine' I found though.

I suspect this may be the one you're thinking of Mike
Showcase Models Card Showmans Traction Engine | eBay
They also did the Flying Scotsman
Showcase Models Card LNER Flying Scotsman | eBay
Don't think there's any other source for it beside occasional e-bay appearances.

Thanks for all your help - I should have remembered Google's images - I used it for the plans.

Maurice - thanks for the link - unfortunately there was no picture, but I did see the micromodels Traction Engine set, so I bought that and will keep an eye on ebay.

Cheers

Mike

Hey it may be small and indistinct but this (now enlarged by 260%) came off that ebay page.
