I import the pdf in inkscape and remove everything from the template except the lines where I need cuts and scores. I put the cut and the score lines on different layers so I can create two files (dxf format, svg is also possible but I haven't been able to figure out how to align the cut and the score file correctly). I first load the paper, run the score file with the knife set to merely touch the paper to create score lines. Then I leave the paper in the cutter so the starting point is exactly the same when I load the cut file with the knife set to higher depth.
@fleetsailor1981 I haven't been able to get it to cut out a printed template yet, there is plenty of functionality to make it possible though. The cutterhead has a little "eye" that will read registration marks on the paper so as long as you make sure everything is lined up correctly it should be possible. I just haven't gotten around to figuring it all out yet. So there is definitely a learning curve with the cutter, you have to be kind of persistant to get it to do what you want, but once you get to that stage it is an awesome addition to this wonderful hobby of ours. Next step is to start understanding Blender so I can start generating my own templates. |
