My first bike build

Alan's Harley has been intriguing me since he showed it originally, and just when looking for an interim project David ESP built a great model making it easier to see how this goes together. This is a great design and much work and thought obviously was put into the model, build in progress is nearly done, no pedals or fender supports, the tailpipe is built. I used fishing line for the spokes and wires sharpie to silver or black. Alan says this is not a beginner's model and was challenging for me having not built any spoked wheels in the past...the rest is also challenging but not if you're used to building detailed models and ok with rolling tubes. I used 67lb paper. Thanks to AlanG for this free model check it out at his site, Thanks Alan!

Thanks Tim. The flash pic is unflattering to the seat, it actually looks quite fine
Although did use wire for the springs. The scale is 1/14 or half the PDF size..

Beautiful. I'll echo Tim and say great wheels.
I can't fathom how folks can actually guild those. I've watched and read the threads and tuttrials, but still...

Glen, nice job on the bike. Wheels are really good, especially if that is your first pass at spoked wheels.

Thanks guys appreciated, the springtime just calls for outdoor activities...

Jagolden you could build a spoked wheel I'm sure of it, but you have to try your hand and set up the jig, it took me alot longer on the first

Thanks Whulsey I know you favor wheels to wings, this model includes such nice early mechanical workings that make it very cool

Thanks Doug nice to hear from you

Thanks wc you are very encouraging

Hope to wrap up the details soon, my ship calls but I'm still thinking about line sizes and such things...ships are slow projects for me...

Glen, that is beautiful. It is wonderful to see people doing such fine things with my model.

Will we be seeing any more motorcycles from you? There are lots out there to choose from!

Best wishes,
Alan

Glen, fantastic job. The wheels and everything else came out great and all in half scale.

My hat's off to you.

David
