The Diesel Detail

The Dummy engine became the base for the actual engine. I have printed more copies of the engine and started turning it into more 3D. The turbo was made excessively large, as I wanted to be a feature on the engine. I also made a couple accessories on the engine too, such as alternator, starter motor, pulleys , filters, belts and Intercooler.

To make hoses I used rolled up normal paper and just wrapped and wrapped (waited for glue to dry) then shaped while glue was still slightly playable, then shaped some more (its almost like paper mache). I wish I just bought some of those paper straws, but since this is a Rat Rod I will get away with doing it this way. I have almost spent two nights on the engine alone, and I'm hoping to have the build completed within the week.

Leaping Forward.

Getting there surely... I have now started playing around with the stance and trying to dummy up the wheels (I have started wrapping them with some tread). I have finished up the plumbing of the turbo earlier today. I have made the front beam, and placed the wheels in position.
Next on the agenda will be the rear suspension I think, though the list is still very long before this beast is finished.

Talking Gettig close to the end final details

Here are the pics coming close to the end. Things still on the list are: Lights, Diff, Tail shaft, gearbox, radiator ornament, and anything else you may see at the end. The Diff I started making from paper straws, then layering strips of glued paper to develop its shape. Oh and yes there is a little BMW I made for giggles, had to break this build up somehow.

Finished.

Well glue is still wet. Here it is, done, it's not perfect, but I'm happy with the outcome. A couple last minute details such as a beer Keg for a fuel tank. L.O.L Flip front screen to give it some cool air. Now I just have to work on the quality, but practice makes perfect.
