Any one for Golf (R32) Rat Rod Style
So with the Kids projects out of the way, its time for another build. Now this time I'm going to use Ľubomír Papánek design from http://www.papieraky.szm.com/download/golfr32.htm of the R32 VW Golf. I have seen this model built by many people and it looks great. Been a modifier and hot rodder at heart, I will customise this car a little, and add a few more unexpected details, such as interior, engine bay. The look I'm going for is one with a rusty hood, maybe sticker bombed panel and roof racks. I chose the 1:18 scale so it should make for easier detailing. Lets see how it turns out. Here are some pics of the concept I'm looking for

A Couple extra details
Hi all, I have gotten stuck into this build, I have decided to slow things down and pay more attention to detail. Therefore let loose with a hobby knife I started cutting holes here and there, such as lights windows, grille and badge, and now I'm committed to making these parts from scratch L.O.L.
The interior is going to be stripped out with a roll cage, so the end product is going to be a derelict car with a sporty twist. I have also got some experimental stuff I want to try with some of the metal detailing, stay tuned. Now I have to head down the beach to speed up the process of making the paper rust for the ratty details haha. |

Starting on the wheels
I took a side step today and I decided to start on the wheels. I Decided to keep the originals from the kit, but give them a little more detail. The Face of the wheel is two pieces of 230gsm card glued together, to give the spokes some strength, I cut out the slats, than covered the face with aluminium tape. The whitewall detail was done with a correction pen., I managed to complete one wheel face, and I quiet like the style. The reason why I chose the factory style wheels is because, they will show off the brakes once I build them.
I primed the body, and its coming up well too. |

Body Detail
Hi all, I have been busy adding details to the golf. I have started the construction of the chassis, to help align things when needed. I also started on the headlights, and the body panels. I printed another copy of the body and cut out and separated all panels and stuck them on top to give a 3d look to the gaps. Guard fenders have been filled with glue and paper fillings.

Sticker Bomb and Rust
I just picked up the freshly rusted hood, and sticker bombed the roof, and oh yes I gave it a lick of paint, I have printed out a scaled engine bay too, just to have a look what needs to be done in there. the headlights are almost finished. I have also started on a roll cage. so its all happening. I really like the way the hood rusted though.

This is going to be a fun little gem. Is that about 1/24 or 1/32?

This car is 1:18 scale, So it is quite large and easy to work with, but it will sit nicely with the build of the rat rod I completed previously.

A little here a little there
Hi all, progress has been slow, and I still have a fair bit to do, unfortunately that thing called work is getting in the way a fair bit, but like an addiction, any moment I can spare I do a little here, and a little there.
